| You are participating in a high yield lecture series that will require you to be alert and attentive to material presented in an audio/visual format. Online instruction is designed to allow you, the student, to “attend class” according to your schedule and progress at a comfortable pace, but it is important to provide undivided attention when you are competing the video segments. Each subject has been taped in segments ranging from 15 to 30 minutes to allow natural breaks and can be viewed and reviewed at a pace that suits you best. Below are suggestions that should help make the review sessions most effective and beneficial: |
| |
Select a location conducive to being attentive (lighting, temperature, comfort, noise, distractions, etc.) |
| |
Watch the video lectures only when you are well rested. |
| |
Use headphones to listen to the lectures instead of your computer speakers to eliminate audio distractions. |
| |
Allow enough time to complete segments in one setting and work to complete subjects without long breaks between each segment. |
| |
“Video marathons” are unproductive. Watching too many hours of material in one day will produce diminishing return. |
| |
Schedule time daily to insure you get through the material effectively and at a pace that is personally manageable for you. |
| |
Outside distractions should be minimized as much as practical (pets, roommates, TV, stereo, phone, active outdoor locations etc.) |
| |
Take notes and highlight in your books as you complete video sessions. This is very important and will help maintain your attentiveness. |
| |
Following the study tips provided on our web site will greatly enhance your ability to LEARN the material. |
